Our Coaches
Coach Jacob Zab
Alpha Ice Complex (Harmarville, PA)
Coach Zab says the best advice he received as a young hockey student was to enjoy the journey, not the destination. And it’s been a fantastic journey so far. Born on Easter Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio, Zab grew up playing hockey in his hometown before being in net for the USPHL Premier Pittsburgh Vengeance for three years. He played four years NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Nebraska Omaha and has time with the ECHL minor league Wheeling Nailers. A student of Shane Clifford Goalie School for eight years, Zab now lives in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, and holds degrees in business administration and marketing management. His favorite thing about coaching is being able to leave a positive impact on someone’s life.

Coach Landon Anderson
Baierl Ice Complex (Warrendale, PA)
“Coach Utah” comes to the Shane Clifford Goalie School after being in net four years at the University of Utah. Although he now calls Greensburg, Pennsylvania home, he hails from Salt Lake City, Utah, with several stops for hockey along the way. He played youth hockey for the Colorado Rampage, then spent his junior hockey years with the NA3HL Gillette Wild, EHL Valley Junior Warriors, and the USPHL Premier Pittsburgh Vengeance. Landon holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, is a certified NASM athletic trainer, and may be the world’s number one chocolate milk fan. He hopes his students come to appreciate what a privilege it is to feel the pressure of playing in big and close games—and knowing that success or failure in those moments doesn’t define you as a player or as a person.

Coach Robert Halyama
Printscape Arena at Southpointe (Canonsburg, PA)
Robert Halyama is a yinzer at heart, born and raised just 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh in Cranberry Township and now calling McKees Rocks home. A proud product of Western Pennsylvania hockey, Robert played scholastically for Seneca Valley as well as with the Pittsburgh Icemen. He went on to play collegiately at Duquesne University, where he earned his B.S. in Health Sciences and now serves as the goaltending coach and the director of player recruitment for the Dukes. He believes that success is cultivated only when one falls in love with the process, not just the results.

From the amateur to the pro level, Shane teaches goalies the fundamentals and how to succeed in all situations. To be successful, you need a system, and Shane will teach you that system in a way any goalie will understand and use to achieve incredible results.
With Shane Clifford’s help I won a NCAA Division 1 national championship with Minnesota Duluth. I also signed a contract with the new york islanders of the nhl.
With Shane Clifford’s help I was the first hockey goalie taken in the NHL draft. Thanks to Shane I am fortunate enough to be the starting goalie for the NHL Flyers.
